The new Barbie movie set was constructed using so much pink paint, causing a global shortage of the commodity. “The world ran out of pink,” said the movie’s production designer, reported CNN.
The cast of the Warner Bros. live action movie features Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling. Since the announcement of the movie, users have flocked to social media to express their excitement and anticipation for the new release.
“We delivered everything we could, they got it all. We can’t wait to see how it looks in the film!” said vice president of marketing and digital experience for paint company Rosco, Lauren Proud to CNN.
She also clarified that the shortage was not caused entirely because of the excess use for the movie set but that the time that the set was being developed overlapped with global supply chain issues.
The movie trailer unveils a real life dollhouse featuring a walk-in closet, swimming pool, slide and the iconic convertible car. Majority of the set is seen to have the bright pink colour to achieve “authentic artificiality” the director told Architectural Digest.
“I wanted the pinks to be very bright, and everything to be almost too much,” she said.
