The world’s most expensive model car is said to be unveiled today with the $7.4m gold Lamborghini Aventador to go on display at Bloomingdale’s Atrium in The Dubai Mall.
Local media reports say the car, which is a 1:8 scale model of the real thing, will be unveiled by designer Robert Gülpen.
The model is wrapped in solid gold over a carbonfibre body and also features platinum, sterling silver and gemstones, which adorn the interior.
The cost of the materials alone has been reported as $2.4m, with the remainder of the price tag down to the craftsmanship.
Last year, another gold-plated Lamborghini Aventador was put up for sale.
It was, however, a full-sized car, complete with a 700 horsepower engine. Covered in gold foil, the one-of-a-kind Aventador AU79 came with a price-tag of $550,000.
