World Cup fans were not pleased after spotting Nusret Gokce, who is known as Salt Bae, holding the FIFA champions’ trophy, following the match between Argentina and France on Sunday.
Gokce reportedly made his way onto the pitch and held the World Cup trophy alongside a few Argentina players. He reportedly also bit into one of the winner’s medals.
According to FIFA, the trophy can only be touched and held by a select few.
“The original FIFA World Cup Trophy can only be touched and held by a very select group of people, which includes former winners of the FIFA World Cup and heads of state,” according to the regulations set up by the football association.
Gokce’s actions did not bode well for many across the world, and some even took it to Twitter to express their views.
