Following Salt Bae‘s inexcusable actions at the Qatar World Cup, where he held, posed, kissed and bit the Wold Cup trophy and champions’ medals, the celebrity chef has now been banned from the 2023 US Open Cup Final.
The soccer league took it to Twitter to state the same.
Salt Bae, whose actual name is Nusret Gokce, had made his way to the pitch at Qatar’s Lusail Stadium, following the match between Argentina and France on Sunday.
According to FIFA, the trophy can only be touched and held by a select few, and Salt Bae’s actions have lead the association to launch an investigation against him.
According to FIFA regulations, this “includes former winners of the FIFA World Cup and heads of state.”
“Following a review, FIFA has been establishing how individuals gained undue access to the pitch after the closing ceremony at Lusail stadium on 18 December. The appropriate internal action will be taken,” a spokesperson for FIFA said.
