A new report by YouGov highlights key stress factors for UAE residents when booking travel in 2025.

The study found that more than two-thirds of travellers experience at least one stress point during the process.

“Advances in technology, such as AI-driven recommendations and mobile-friendly platforms, and transforming how travellers research, compare and secure their trips. But not every traveller is taking advantage of these tools, or the tools aren’t necessarily helping with the most impactful pain points, leading to continued stresses for UAE travel bookers,” Zafar Shah, Account Director, Data Services, YouGov MENA said.

The report states that selecting luggage allowance (47 per cent) is a concern for almost half of UAE residents, followed by booking rental cars (37 per cent), accommodation (36 per cent), airport transfers (34 per cent), getting travel insurance (34 per cent) and booking flights (27 per cent).

Other factors include choosing the right destination, comparing prices, and securing preferred travel dates.

Booking patterns reveal a mix of DIY planners who rely on comparison websites and travellers who opt for package deals. This is because DIY bookers use comparison websites to find the best price/deal (77 per cent), to check for room rates (63 per cent) and to compare different accommodation options (58 per cent), among other factors.

The report also ranks travel agencies and booking platforms based on customer satisfaction, providing insights into consumer preferences. Booking.com topped as the travel agency/booking platforms based on net customer satisfaction at 62.5, followed by trivago (55.6), Expedia (53.6), Wego (50.9) and MakeMyTrip (49.5).

The study is based on survey responses from UAE residents and examines travel behaviours and booking trends.
