As a presenter for Al Jazeera, Leila Sheikhali has played a major
role in establishing the news channel as a bold and fearless provider of information
to an Arab world that is often starved of unbiased content.
Born in Baghdad, raised in Saudi Arabia and educated in England and the United States, Al Sheikhali has worked
in the media industry for more than thirteen years, with agencies as diverse as the BBC World Service, the Middle East
Broadcasting Centre and Abu Dhabi TV, before settling in with the Qatar-based Al
Jazeera Network.
In 2008, she was ranked on the Arabian Business Power 100 as
a consequence of her dedicated work towards providing honest, unbiased news coverage
of some of the hottest conflicts in the region.
