Born in West Africa, British-Lebanese journalist Hala Jaber has won plaudits for her courageous coverage of wars in the Middle East and Africa. Her first book, Hezbollah: Born with A Vengeance, is a brief history of the group between 1970-97. Jaber’s second book, The Flying Carpet of Small Miracles, covers the plight of women and their children caught up in the Iraq war. She won the Amnesty International Media award in 2003, as well as being short-listed in 2007. Jaber also picked up the Martha Gellhorn Prize in 2006.
