Egyptian feminist Nawal Al Saadawi, 81, has written several books about women in Islam and in particular the practice of female circumcision. An activist, she is also the founder and president of Arab Women’s Solidarity Association and co-founder of the Arab Association for Human Rights. She is also a qualified physician and psychiatrist and was Chief Editor of Health Magazine in Cairo and Editor of Medical Association Magazine. Al Saadawi has received honorary degrees on three continents.
