In recent years the UAE office of international law firm Pinsent Masons has advised on many of the leading construction and infrastructure projects in the MENA region, including airports, highways, metro, rail and some of the most iconic commercial and residential developments in the Middle East. The practice also issues an annual GCC Construction Survey which, in its fifth year, is an increasingly established bellwether of the activity and trends within the industry, with the last instance accounting for 75 different companies. “In terms of revenue, very much the higher end of the market responded to the survey. The overwhelming feature of the survey: 70% of the respondents felt that the market was improving and will improve,” said Sachin Kerur, the man currently driving the firm’s unshakeable credibility. With another finger of the pulse of the specific finance mechanisms for the growing number of PPP projects in particular, Kerur noted: “47% believe they will be involved in PPP projects over the next 12 months.” Back to the practice he summed: “We have expanded our infrastructure group here in the emirates with new personnel. We are also fortunate to be joined by colleagues in Qatar, so our footprint continues to evolve and it is an important time for the firm.”
