Fawazy was just 23 years old when he set up Trimar Forwarding, a Cairo-based logistics company. At the time Fawzy admits he had very little business knowledge: “I had no business background, no business family to build upon and a relatively small capital of $30,000.”
But Fawazy’s limited business acumen hasn’t hindered the company’s growth. While profits have doubled year-on-year, Fawazy also has big plans to expand the company into regional markets. He has already opened his first regional office in Jeddah and has been inundated with acquisition offers, which has allowed the company to compete with other multinational companies. “My dream is for Trimar Forwarding to become a global and multinational company,” he says.
In 2007, Fawzy was named the FIATA Young International Freight Forwarder of the Year for Africa and the Middle East and was last year awarded the LOG.LEO Young Achiever Award.
