It may have been a film maker that took former Palestinian refugee Chaker Khazaal out of the Bourj El Barajneh refugee camp in Lebanon, but looking at Khazaal’s portfolio today, it is only fair to say he has made a name for himself, by himself.
Khazaal migrated to Canada after receiving a university scholarship there and later gained citizenship there. A self-proclaimed “big dreamer,” he is now the editor-in-chief of news website StepFeed and YallaFeed, having held various reporting positions including as a contributor for the Huffington Post.
But Khazaal has not forgotten where he came from, having founded a for-profit program that offers refugees remote employment. He is also the author of the trilogy Confessions of a War Child and is currently working on his fourth book, Tale of Tala.
“I have always dreamed big, and I still dream now,” he told Arabian Business.
