The success story of Masala King Dr Dhananjay Datar is highly inspirational to every business-passionate mind. His childhood passed in poverty taught him self-reliance, frugality and hard work. Although without any entrepreneurial or sound financial background, he dreamt of owning a business in younger age.
Datar sold phenyl and instant mixes door-to-door in Mumbai’s suburbs, learning the art of selling, before starting his business career as an intern in a small grocery shop in Dubai. He did the sweeping, cleaning and carrying heavy bags, gradually learning the management of the shop under the tutelage of his father.
With honesty, hard work and determination, Datar made a miracle to carve the world-famous business group Al Adil out of his tiny shop. Today, his group encompass a chain of 40 spacious super stores spread across the Gulf, two spice factories, two flour mills and an import-export company.
