There is a lot riding on Jumeirah Group’s current CEO Jose Silva, as he is tasked with turning the home-grown Dubai hospitality brand into a global empire. But with 35 years in the industry with posts in France, Spain, Switzerland and Portugal during 25 years with Four Seasons Hotels & Resorts, Silva seems to be in the right place.
While the group has an impressive portfolio of 23 hotels across 12 global destinations as well a total of 100 restaurants in the UAE alone, its chief will lead its opening of over 20 hotels set for Asia-Pacific (including eight in China), Middle East (including the now-completed Jumeirah Al Naseem at Dubai’s Madinat Jumeirah) and in Europe. Since his takeover in March 2018, the group opened the first luxury “eco-conscious” resort, Jumeirah at Saadiyat Island Resort, on Saadiyat Island, Abu Dhabi. In September, it also announced the launch of the Jumeirah Nanjing in China on the banks of the Yangtze River.
