The founder and general partner of Dubai-based Global Ventures, Noor Sweid is one of the most prominent venture capitalists in the Middle East and North Africa – and the only woman currently at the helm of a VC fund in the region. In 2008, she also made international headlines as the first female to lead an IPO in the region when her family business, Depa, was listed on the London Stock Exchange and NASQAD Dubai. In the three years prior, she had helped the business grow tenfold and reach $600m in revenue.
Previously, Noor was the chief investment officer at The Dubai Future Foundation, where she spent time developing the technology and innovation ecosystem in Dubai, and a managing partner at Leap Ventures, a growth-stage venture capital firm based out of Dubai and Beirut. She is also the founder of ZenYoga, which became the largest chain of wellness studios in the region before she sold it to a private equity firm in 2014.
