The Emirati of Iraqi origin is the CEO of Sharjah-based Crescent Petroleum, one of the region’s first private oil and gas companies, which has offices in the UK and internationally. But he is also the vice-chairman at his family’s Crescent Group of companies. If that is not impressive enough, Jafar juggles another position as the managing director of Dana Gas, the first regional, private sector integrated natural gas company in the Middle East.
Jafar is also proud of the success of the Crescent-sponsored Edraak Career Readiness programme, a soft skills course that has seen more than 270,000 young people in the MENA region register to learn English language, computer skills and general office skills.
