Two years ago, Saudi Arabia split up the Ministry of Energy, Industry and Mineral Resources. Alkhorayef, a businessman from the eponymous industrial conglomerate, was nominated to run the Ministry of Industry and Mineral Resources.
With 27 years of experience in leadership positions in the industrial, commercial and investment fields in the Alkhorayef Groip, he also chairs the Royal Commission for Jubail and Yanbu, the Saudi Authority for Industrial Cities and Technology Zones, and the National Industrial Development and Logistics Programme.
