Pradeep K Handa is vice-chairman and CEO of the Kapico Group, a partnership with Kuwait’s billionaire Al Ghannam family. Kuwait-born Handa has built the group into a huge global conglomerate with more than 40 subsidiary and joint venture companies in 11 countries in the Middle East, Africa and South Asia.
The group’s diverse holdings span four business sectors: automotive, healthcare, lifestyle and infrastructure. The automotive business supplies ‘aftermarket’ products, including tyres, accessories, hardware, glasses, batteries and lubricants; its healthcare division includes operations such as The Royale Hayat Hospital Kuwait — a $100m specialised private healthcare facility — and hospitality brand Banyan Tree Hotels & Resorts.
The lifestyle business operates the licence for Saks Fifth Avenue stores across the UAE, Kuwait, Bahrain and Qatar, and the nine Giordano Fashions stores in Kuwait. Meanwhile, the infrastructure business provides services from air conditioning, electro-mechanical contracting and supply of elevators across the region. The group is one of the first multinational businesses to originate from Kuwait.
