A trained mechanic and explosives expert, al Umari is described as a master bomb maker. He is wanted in France for the 1985 bombing of the Marks and Spencer department store in Paris and in the US for the 1982 bombing of Pan Am Flight 830. He is reported to be in Lebanon, his wife’s home country, or Iraq. He has scars on his hands and arms from handling explosives.
