Bernard Van Linder

Company: Saudi Hollandi Bank

Designation: Managing director

Bernd van Linder was appointed as MD of Saudi Hollandi Bank in November 2009 after former CEO, Geoff Calvert resigned for personal reasons.

With the appointment, Bernd van Linder took over one of Saudi Arabia’s oldest banks, riding on a wave generated by Calvert’s policies after the 2006 stock market crash.

Since then, Saudi Hollandi Bank has gone from strength to strength, with paid up capital amounting to $881.7m at the end of June 2010.

In addition, the bank has expanded its presence throughout Saudi Arabia, with more than 43 branches spread out across the Kingdom.

A new entry on this list, van Linder was ranked at number 31 on the 2010 Gulf’s 50 most efficient CEOs.
