Qatar National Bank (QNB) is by far the largest in the country — with an estimated 40 percent of banking sector assets — and is also one of the biggest in the region. The bank is headed by Ali Shareef Al Emadi, under whose direction it has undertaken international expansion. QNB has also made various acquisitions, including a 50 percent stake in the Tunisian-Qatari Bank and a 24 percent stake in the UAE’s Commercial Bank International.
