Daly took over the reins at the company last November. He
was formerly the CEO of Vodafone Egypt and Vodafone Partner Markets. Vodafone
Qatar reported a loss of $33.6m in the second quarter of 2011, down from $41m
in the previous three-month period. Qatar’s second telco, launched three years
ago, saw a 43 percent rise in its customer base year-on-year. The firm now has
761,000 mobile customers.
Revenue increased by 65 percent to $80m, while average
revenue per user rose eleven percent in comparison to the same period last year
to reach $32.
Daly paid tribute to former CEO Grahame Maher who died two
years ago, acknowledging “the great success” that he and the team achieved.
“It is always exciting for an international company to
operate in new territories, and we are looking forward to bringing our
international experience to the market whilst at the same time adapting to the
wonderful culture of Qatar,” he added.
