Omar Hamad Almana established the Almana Group business in 1961 in Qatar. It is now one of the country’s oldest and largest business entities.
The giant group is currently represents some of the world’s biggest firms in the Gulf state, including the Ford Motor Company, Chrysler, Dodge & Jeep, Peugeot, IBM, Coca-Cola and KFC.
Almana Group also runs the Pizza Hut franchise in Turkey, which has a total of 55 restaurants.
Almana Group has 18 subsidiaries with diversified activities ranging from cars, general contracting, computer services, steel structures and travel.
It also has more than 22 affiliated companies, including Qatar Securities Company, Gulf Business Machines Bahrain and operations in Turkey. Elsewhere, it has several joint venture operations both inside and outside Qatar.
Almana Real Estate is regarded as a premier provider of luxury villas and residences and is headquartered at Almana Tower in Doha. Amongst its upcoming projects include the Hyatt Plaza and two further Almana towers.
Outside the business world, Omar Hamad Almana was instrumental in setting up the American School in Qatar in the 1980s. Since that time he has remained as a board member of the school, as well as being on the board of a significant number of other local companies.
