He started his career as a deck cadet with India Steamship in 1971, and quickly climbed the ranks to become one of the youngest masters in the Indian shipping fleet.

He came to Dubai in 1990 to set up Emarat Maritime, and has been the firm’s managing director since 1997. He is a founding member of the UAE Shipowners Association.
