A child prodigy, Hussein Al Jasmi has emerged to become one of the most popular singers in the Gulf, and as a result has powered into the top 20 in this year’s rankings.
Al Jasmi is blessed with a uniquely tender voice that began to charm audiences on UAE television from the age of seven. He was quickly snapped up by the Rotana Corp and released his first album in 2002, aged just 21. Songs like ‘
Bawadaak
’ and ‘
Safer
’ quickly made him an international superstar.
Since that period, Al Jasmi has performed in a number of festivals all over the region, including Salalah, in Oman, and in Carthage, Tunisia. In 2007, the singer was honoured by King Hamad Al Khalifa, the Ruler of Bahrain after performing a particularly patriotic song about the country.
Not only that, but Al Jasmi is also a poster boy for the slimming community as well. During the course of last year, he revealed that he had lost an impressive 60kg, due to a diet and exercise regime prescribed by his doctors.
