It appears no day has passed in the past year without Al Fahim being in the news. Last July he mounted a takeover bid for Premier League club Portsmouth. However, he sold it just 42 days after seizing control, with the club eventually going into administration.
He remains active on the property front as president of the Arab Union for Real Estate Development, and is tipped to shortly become involved in a major new green project in the USA.
In December 2008, Al Fahim was appointed by the Intergovernmental Institution for the use of Micro-algae Spirulina Against Malnutrition (IIMSAM) as a Goodwill Ambassador at Large in support of the United Nations Millennium Development Goals by encouraging the use of Spirulina to eradicate malnutrition. This new role has seen him make several trips to Africa, and if anything, he has been busier on the charity front than the business front lately.
And if you think Al Fahim’s profile may lower in the coming months, think again — he is making an appearance in a new movie being filmed in Sudan, playing himself.
