Having been groomed for a leading role in his father Mohamed’s business empire, Omar was appointed to the Harrod’s board in 2006 at the tender age of 19.
The move was seen by many within the retail industry as an insight into Mohamed’s succession plans for his upmarket London department store.
Omar was also appointed a director of ten subsidiary companies. Now 22, Omar is believed to hold a key role in the daily running of Harrods and enters the Power List at number 75.
Mohamed Al Fayed’s youngest son, Omar is one of four children the tycoon has with Finnish socialite and former model Heini Wathén.
Mohamed Al Fayed featured at number 46 on Arabian Business’s Power List in 2008.
