If green energy is the future, then Dr Sultan Ahmed Al Jaber is right behind it. As CEO of the Abu Dhabi Future Energy Company (ADFEC), Dr Al Jaber is the driving force behind Abu Dhabi’s bid to build the world’s first sustainable, zero-waste, car-free, carbon neutral city — a goal that is slowly being realised as Masdar City takes shape in the emirate’s desert.
Masdar is Abu Dhabi’s vision and investment in the future of energy and environmental sustainability, a multibillion dollar, multifaceted response to the need for a global focus on green thinking and sustainability-related technologies.
Dr Al Jaber is also an advisor to the state-owned Mubadala Development Company. His broad-based responsibilities at the Abu Dhabi fund include direct project origination and execution in the energy, industry and utilities sectors, as well as relationship management with key multinational companies and government institutions.
The ADFEC chief serves on the boards of a number of local companies keen for his expertise. He holds a PhD in economics with emphasis on foreign direct investment from Coventry University, UK, and an MBA and BS in chemical engineering from the University of Southern California, US.
