The first lady of Middle Eastern fashion, Saudi Arabian fashionista Amina Jassim is best known for her wedding dresses and handbags, designed in her distinctively conservative yet vibrant style.
A trained seamstress, much of Jassim’s work is painstakingly embroidered by hand, especially her handbags. Her instantly recognisable designs are typically encrusted with silver, crystal and shells in her designs.
Saudi by birth, she travels the Middle East regularly, and her spring/summer 2005 collection was modelled at the Metropolitan Hotel in Beirut.
Her work also featured extensively at last year’s Abu Dhabi Fashion Week, before a range of international buyers, retailers and top journalists.
Last year’s guests included: Vittorio Missoni, Albino D’Amato, Laudomia Pucci, Maria Luisa Trussardi, and Giuseppe Rossi of Calvin Klein.
