Egyptian singer, Amr Diab, is still raising the bar – often beating his own records – on Arabic record sales worldwide in a career that has spanned over 20 years in the entertainment industry, so it is no surprise that he has moved up from being number 38 on the list last year.

The singer has an international fan base thanks to the success of his songs on dance floors all over the world, and he is known to be a regular award winner for his original music.

With a style that mixes both Arabic and Mediterranean elements, his music appeals to a broader audience by often incorporating Spanish guitar riffs and instruments such as the saxophone not commonly used in Arabic music into his melodies. These flavours have become his trademark.

The singer’s life has been a whirlwind of music awards and concert tours around the world, including North America, in the past decade.

The size of his concerts display that he is a star of epic proportions, such as the one hosted by Pepsi in Cairo with 40,000 fans singing along with the lyrics, though he is also known to entertain at smaller, private functions around the region.

The artist has done collaborations with other performers around the world, adding to his international appeal.

He has recorded best-selling songs with Algerian star Khaled and the Greek sensation Angela Dimitriou. He has performed tributes to some of the most beloved artistes in the Arab world including Omm Kalthom and Abdel Halim.
