Ali Al Obaidli runs qatar’s largest property concern, and an entity that used to be the biggest listed company in the Gulf. At the moment, he is busy restoring it to its past glory, with profits rising strongly, and occupancy rates at the firm’s hotels also performing well. Al Obaidli took over from former CEO Hesham Al Sahtari in 2013. Concentrating exclusively on the Qatari market, Ezdan holds a large portfolio of real estate assets in Al Wakrah and Al Wukair, as well as a series of residential towers near the Souq Waqif neighbourhood. It also owns Ezdan Mall Gharafa and Ezdan Mall Al Wakrah, as well as two local hotels and stakes in a significant number of Qatari blue-chips. Ezdan is building 50,000 units, which are all set to be completed by the time the World Cup takes place in 2022.
