A year on from the upgrading to emerging market by index compiler MSCI, the Qatar Exchange has had an indifferent year. As in other Gulf markets, listings are non-existent, volumes are down and the bourse is generally tracking the movements of the oil price. None of that is the fault of Rashid Bin Ali Al Mansoori, who took the top job at the bourse in 2012, and oversaw the bumper Mesaieed IPO last year. Still, he will be hoping that the exchange meets with better fortune in 2016. Al Mansoori is also a board member of Qatar Financial Centre, Qatar Finance and Business Academy, and the World Federation of Exchanges. He previously served as IT Director at the Qatar Investment Authority (QIA), where he was responsible for establishing the IT department and managing investment and financial applications. Al Mansoori is the chairman and CEO of the Qatar Equestrian Federation, and has a degree in computer and management sciences.
