Major General Abdullah Khalifa Al Marri was named as the new commander-in-chief of the 15,000-strong Dubai Police in March, a month after he was promoted from brigadier. Al Marri was previously deputy director of the protective security and emergency department.
The Emirati joined the force in 1991 and has been awarded a bravery medal, four medals for his excellent service and 10 appreciation badges. Al Marri also established a motorcycle group to protect VIPs in 2008 and is credited with devising Dubai Police’s smart phone application.
Born in 1965 he has a degree in sociology.
