Omar Abdulrahman was named Asian Football Confederation player of the year in 2016, for helping Al Ain reach the final of the AFC Champions League and leading the UAE into the last round of qualifying for the World Cup. Widely regarded as one of Asia’s best players, ‘Amoory’, as he is known, is easily recognisable both on and off the pitch by his oversized afro hairstyle. Born in Riyadh to Yemeni parents, he moved to the UAE as a youngster. He was signed up to Al Ain Football Club as a youth, before rising through the ranks. While he is under contract with Al Ain FC until 2018, there is speculation that he will be off to Europe after that.
