Just two weeks ago, samer alhaj was named as the new CEO of one of the biggest conglomerates in the UAE, Al Ghurair. He will now manage multiple businesses spanning foods, resources, properties, construction and energy. In announcing the appointment, chairman and reverred Emirati Abdul Aziz Al Ghurair said he expected Alhaj to drive innovation in the 57-year-old company. He will also be expected to deliver greater levels of profitability and sustainability.
Alhaj has 35 years of multi-industry experience gained in the US, Asia and the GCC. He was previously chief financial officer at Dubai Holding, a position he held for five years. He was also CEO of Waha Capital from 2007-2009.
