Cairo-born Ashraf El Afifi joined Henkel in 1992, when the German chemical and consumer goods company first expanded to Egypt. Working his way up from a brand manager, he was appointed managing director of Henkel Egypt at just 34. He also served as the MENA regional director, further strengthening its expansion in the region through a series of acquisitions and investments in new markets.
El Afifi is currently president of Henkel in India, the Middle East and Africa (IMEA), and corporate senior vice-president of the firm’s laundry and home care MEA and Asia Pacific division. He oversees more than 16 countries in the IMEA region and additional areas in APAC, and is also a member of the group’s executive committee for IMEA and GCC.
