All changed again on the Lebanese political scene, with Saad Hariri no longer the country’s prime minister.
But he remains the wealthiest of the Hariri clan, he holds hefty stakes in a number of large firms. Although very active in politics, Hariri is equally known for his sharp business brain and hugely credited for the success of the company in the past decade.
Following the downturn, however, we have revised the value of his construction portfolio and place his wealth at $3.7bn. That still places him at number sixteen in our Saudi Arabia Rich List. Raised in Saudi Arabia, Saad managed part of his father’s business until the elder Hariri’s assassination in 2005, when he returned home to follow his father’s path in politics and became an elected member of Parliament.
He had been general manager of Saudi Oger, the family’s $9bn construction company that is the key source of the Hariri wealth. Married with three children, he graduated from the McDonough School of Business.
