TAQA, or Abu Dhabi National Energy Company, is the biggest independent power producer in the Middle East and North Africa region and the largest owner of power generation and water desalination assets in the UAE. The company also operates in the US, West Africa and India. Carl Sheldon has led TAQA’s expansion strategy through organic growth and acquisitions. Its most recent purchase of UK North Sea oil and gas assets from BP was announced this month. The deal is expected to add 20,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day of production.
