Michael Whitwell is currently the president of AIG Insurance for the Middle East and Africa regions. Since taking up the role in July 2008, he has led the firm through challenging economic times and has played a key role in the global rebrand of AIG. Whitwell joined AIG in 1984, managing US multinational customers in Bermuda. He moved to London in 1991 and held a number of senior roles in the UK region and was instrumental in organising and launching the risk management and major accounts functions for the region, and managing the UK’s flagship commercial business.
