Most analysts polled said they expected an increasing number of developers to look to the low-cost housing segment to boost revenues but opinion remained split as to how long this trend would last. Analysts cited the rising cost of land in the GCC as a key hurdle to the success of these projects.
“For affordable housing projects to be successful, they require the cooperation of governments and private developers, where governments will provide the land and financing solutions to end users to encourage private developers to build affordable housing projects,” said one analyst.
