Abu Dhabi’s Department of Culture and Tourism (DCT Abu Dhabi) has asked holiday home operators in the emirate to comply with the final deadline of August 1 to register their properties in the online system.
Those who want to rent out a holiday home through operators like Airbnb or individually, need to follow an online application procedure, including providing documents like a licence application form, passport or Emirates ID copies of the owner, certificate of insurance and deed of the property, and any additional documentation requested by DCT Abu Dhabi.
Hamad Mohammed Saeed Alsudain, licensing and regulatory compliance director at DCT Abu Dhabi said: “In line with international best practices, we are reminding holiday home operators about the deadline to obtain their licence and lawfully take part in the temporary home letting business.
“Our aim is for residents and visitors alike to feel comfortable and safe at holiday homes across the emirate, making Abu Dhabi an even more attractive destination for business and leisure travellers. We thank all operators and members of the community for their cooperation and understanding.”
A decision last year by the Executive Council of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi made it mandatory for these requirements for operating holiday home rentals in the emirate.
The system supports the increased demand for alternatives to established hotels and hotel apartments and the regulations will ensure that private accommodation operators maintain a standard of excellence whilst providing a wide variety of safe and secure options.
New regulations regarding holiday homes were introduced in 2020. A manual explaining the new rules and requirements has been uploaded by DCT-Abu Dhabi on its website.
