, is deemed to be the largest multi-disciplined independent commercial testing centre in the Middle East.
The company, which is a joint venture between the UAE’s Al Futtaim and the UK’s Bodycote Testing, will gradually move all its operations from its existing Ras Al Khor premises to the new laboratory.
Along with improving capacity, scope and turnaround time, the centre will provide new services such as metallurgy testing, broader civil engineering testing, chemical analysis, environmental monitoring services and cladding testing, among others.
The facility has been constructed with environmentally controlled specialist testing laboratories, and dedicated cold stores for degradable-sample handling and storage, while the civil engineering testing department offers capacity for up to 100 water penetration tests on concrete simultaneously.
“The opening of the new facility in Dubai is a further testament of Bodycote’s commitment to the region in terms of providing testing, advisory and consultancy services aimed at protecting the massive investments being made in Dubai and the GCC in the construction and real estate sectors,” said Gerry Higgins, Managing Director, Bodycote Testing Group.
