Covid-19: Oman announces 322 new cases

Oman has detected another 322 confirmed cases of Covid-19 in the country, the country’s Ministry of Health announced on Thursday.

To date, the country has reported 4,341 cases of Covid-19. The sultanate’s coronavirus death toll now stands at 17.

According to the Health Ministry, a total of 1,303 patients have recovered from the disease.

On Wednesday, Oman’s government announced that it will cut the budgets of government entities and the military 5 percent in a bid to soften the blow of the Covid-19 pandemic.

The country had already previously cut budgets for governments entities in mid-April as a result of the pandemic.

In a separate announcement, the country’s minister of financial affairs said that government measures to help its economy through the pandemic have so far totalled $3.4 billion.
