The Sharjah Judicial Council has approved the establishment of two new Courts of Appeal in the cities of Kalba and Al Dhaid, marking a significant step in expanding access to justice across the emirate.

The decision was taken during a meeting chaired by H.H. Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah and Chairman of the Judicial Council, held at Bait Elowal in the Heart of Sharjah. Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed praised the efforts of Council members, commending their continued commitment to strengthening the justice system and upholding the rule of law.

The new courts will operate in line with the Judicial Authority Law, which empowers the Council to establish courts across Sharjah’s cities. Their creation is intended to improve access to judicial services for residents, reduce pressure on central courts and shorten case processing times by accelerating appeal procedures closer to where litigants live.

Sharjah strengthens judicial network

Council members noted that the move would help deliver more comprehensive legal services across the emirate while improving efficiency and customer satisfaction. By decentralising appeal services, the initiative aims to ensure equitable access to justice and support social stability.

Alongside the approval of the new courts, the Council endorsed a new corporate identity for the Judicial Council, the Department of Justice and the Public Prosecution. Inspired by the Islamic design of the dome of the Department of Justice building, the identity reflects the unity of the judicial system and the values of integrity, independence and institutional coherence.

The identity introduces a unified visual framework while allowing each entity to retain its distinct role. It features a carefully selected colour palette symbolising stability and impartiality, alongside modern official fonts designed to enhance clarity and professionalism across official correspondence, publications and signage.

As part of efforts to strengthen public communication, the Council also approved the launch of official social media accounts for the three judicial entities. The initiative is aimed at unifying media messaging, improving transparency and providing the public with easier access to accurate judicial information through trusted digital channels.

In a further step towards digital transformation, the Council approved the launch of a new electronic platform titled “Sharjah Judiciary”. The platform will bring together services from the Judicial Council, the Department of Justice and the Public Prosecution through a single website and integrated mobile application.

The platform will allow users to submit applications, track transactions and access smart judicial services through a secure digital environment.

The initiative supports Sharjah’s broader vision for modern government services and reflects a growing focus on innovation, advanced technology and artificial intelligence within the justice sector.
