The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has built six water desalination plants with a total capacity of 1.2 million gallons to benefit over 600,000 people in Gaza Strip within a record turnaround time of three weeks.

Built as per UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan’s humanitarian operationGallant Knight 3’, the plants in the Egyptian city of Rafah were officially opened by Sheikh Shakhboot bin Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of State.

‘Gallant Knight 3’ is President Al Nahyan’s initiative to provide relief to the people of Palestine in the Gaza Strip and reflects the UAE’s historical stances that support the Palestinians, and standing by their side during the difficult times they face.

Sheikh Shakhboot was accompanied in Egypt by a delegation of senior officials from various official agencies and humanitarian organisations in the country, as well as members of the Federal National Council. He emphasised that the UAE will continue in its humanitarian endeavours in supporting the Palestinians and assisting them to overcome these difficult circumstances.

The successful water pumping process into the Gaza Strip is expected to address the scarcity of clean water for the population to a large extent, and provide daily drinking water at shelter centres.
