The Consulate General of India (CGI) said it will facilitate the return of Indian nationals who are staying beyond the permissible visa limits in Dubai and Northern Emirates by issuing emergency certificates.

The Consulate also advised Indian nationals who wish to regularise their residency status should apply for a short-validity passport.

The Consulate’s advisory comes in the wake of the UAE government’s two-month amnesty programme for foreign nationals overstaying in the country without valid visas, starting from September 1.

Facilitation counters will be set up at the CGI-Dubai and Awir Immigration Centre, Dubai.

The facilitation counters in the Consulate will start from September 2 from 8 PM to 6 PM, the CGI statement said.

The emergency certificates can be collected by applicants from the CGI-Dubai, from 2 PM to 4 PM on the next day after submitting the application.
