Sunlife pioneered luxury tourism in Mauritius with the opening of its first hotel, La Pirogue, in 1976. Today, the Group operates four world-class resorts in Mauritius: Sugar Beach, Long Beach, La Pirogue, and Ambre, as well as the award-winning Ile aux Cerfs Golf Club.

For 48 years, the renowned hotel brand has carved out a reputation as one of the leading hospitality brands in Mauritius with a philosophy continually underpinned by the magic of Mauritius.

“We encourage our guests to fully embrace the energy of Mauritius through our newly curated ‘Come Alive Collection,’ a series of uniquely designed experiences inviting them to push the play button and start living, to enjoy invigorating, lively moments,” explains Joëlle Edwards-Tonks, Sunlife’s Chief Sales and Marketing Officer.

The four luxury resorts cater to all types of guests, including luxury travelers, honeymooners, paradise-seekers, golfers, and families from around the world. In particular, Sunlife has a long-lasting experience in welcoming travelers and families from the Middle East.

“We have expanded and improved our luxury accommodations to meet the preferences of our esteemed Middle Eastern guests,” says Joëlle Edwards-Tonks. “We make sure that cultural requirements are met at all times, and our resorts provide a range of Halal amenities and services, ensuring an exceptional experience that includes Halal-certified dining options. We also have Arabic-speaking staff to offer maximum comfort for our Middle Eastern guests.”

With a forward-thinking mindset, Sunlife is anticipating the Mauritius of tomorrow to deliver a unique Mauritian experience. “In consideration of the evolving preferences of the new generation of responsible travelers and digital nomads, who seek digitally advanced and eco-friendly destinations, we have leveraged technology to introduce a digital feature that effortlessly extends the Sunlife experience to guests through their smartphones,” Joëlle Edwards-Tonks explains.

“With the Sunlife app, your resort experience is just a click away, combining convenience with sustainability.” The new app can be used as a room key and houses all the information needed for a stay, including hotel details, gastronomic menus, a resort map, and a full program of exciting activities for each day. Guests can also place restaurant bookings and Spa appointments via the app.

Going further into the Group’s commitment to the environment and sustainability, Joëlle Edwards-Tonks emphasizes that each resort has adopted a range of colorful Sunlife sustainability initiatives that point to the everyday actions taken to care for the environment and respect the local communities.

“We are also committed to preserving our biodiversity: we have a marine center in two of our resorts, which hosts a sea-based nursery and processes a coral restoration program. We have a full-time marine biologist to engage with guests and join divers as they responsibly discover the underwater world.”

“The legendary hospitality that Mauritius is renowned for is upheld through our commitment to maintaining international standards, achieved by engaging skilled local staff. We prioritize the provision of comprehensive training, ensuring not only ample employment opportunities for the local community but also elevating the authenticity of the guest experience,” Joëlle Edwards-Tonks concludes.
