Talabat managing director Muhammed Yildirim said the company is capitalising on sector's potential
Regional food delivery platform Talabat is experiencing 50 percent year-on-year growth.
The company currently has over 13,000 restaurants and 24,000 branches in the GCC and Jordan. Over 4,000 of those restaurants are across the UAE with a total of 9,000 branches.
Muhammed Yildirim, managing director of Talabat, told Arabian Business: “In terms of the industry’s potential for growth, the food delivery sector is highly promising. GCC residents are resorting more and more to online ordering, with a select demographic still depending on traditional methods, presenting an opportunity to reach new customers.
“That said, despite being one of the oldest players in the market, we are still seeing double-digit growth, and we believe this is indicative of the market’s hunger for food delivery.”
Over the past three years, Talabat has grown its orders by over 100 percent across all countries, and last year, celebrated its 100 millionth order.
Yildirim added: “We believe this success is built on our strategy to consistently provide choice, speed, and a seamless experience for customers.
“Another milestone was our acquiring of a portion of Zomato’s business in the UAE, which was a valuable addition to the Talabat and Delivery Hero family.”
Yildirim is looking to secure more success through next year’s Dubai Expo 2020 – with the world showcase event expecting 25 million visits during the six months it is staged.
“We certainly expect a boost in business as the Expo is a huge opportunity for us to reach out to the visitors who will be in the Emirate for the event,” he said. For all the latest retail news from the UAE and Gulf countries, follow us on Twitter and Linkedin, like us on Facebook and subscribe to our YouTube page, which is updated daily.
