Almost one-third of Saudis want to be with their company for more than 10 years.
Saudi nationals are the most loyal employees in the Gulf, with 30.73% of respondents from the Gulf country saying that they want to stay with their company for more than 10 years, the ArabianBusiness.com Salary Survey has revealed.
Another 10.42% of Saudi nationals see them selves in their company for between seven and 10 years.
The survey was completed by 121 nationalities in total. GCC nationals topped the list as those that want to stay in their companies for the long-term, with six out of the seven top spots taken by Gulf employees
With 19.23% of its citizens wanting to stay with their present employer, the Netherlands was the only country not from the GCC to break into the top six.
Nationals from Ireland (18.42%), Jordan (15%), the USA (12.58%) and the UK (11.25%) followed closely behind.
Towards the bottom of the list of nationalities seeing themselves with their employees for over 7 years were Indians (10%), Danes (8.3%), and Australians (8.2%).
The ArabianBusiness.com survey reveals a strong correlation between salary and length of service. One quarter of respondents earning over $100,000 want to stay with their company for more than 10 years, as opposed to just one in ten of those who earn $20,000 or less.
The ‘loyalty' of nationalities partly reflects the seniority at which nationalities are employed within companies within the Gulf.
US citizens employed in the GCC are the most well paid nationality according to the survey with 42% of its nationals earning over $100,000 annually, followed by UK subjects (36.6%), the Dutch (33%) and the Danes (33%).
UAE nationals are the first GCC population in the list with 27.64% of their population earning above $100,000 or above annually.
All these nationalities, save the Danes, show a higher than average intention to stay in the region over the long-term. The Danish anomaly may in part be explained by rising bad blood between the region and Denmark for publishing ‘anti-Islamic' cartoons.
Bahrainis - the only GCC nationals not to feature in the top 6 for desired length of service - topped the table for those feeling they are paid below the industry average for their role.
Qatar heads the country list with employees who want to stay with their employer for the long term (15.8% longer than seven years). Saudi Arabia (15%) and Kuwait (14.5%) come a close second and third. In Bahrain just 7.8% of workers wanting to stay with their company for over seven years.
However as well as having a high percentage of employees who see themselves in their job for seven years or more, Qatar (51.3%), Kuwait (51.3%) and Saudi Arabia (50%) are also the countries with most employees who see themselves in their positions for less than two years. In Bahrain that figure falls to 39%.
In total 29.26% of employees said they planned to stay with their employer for two to five years - the most popular entry for respondents. The second highest choice was for one to two years (25.7%).
Employees in the government sector are the most likely to commit their long term future to their organization with 23.7% of respondents saying they would stay longer than 7 years.
The legal profession has the highest number of employees least willing to commit with only 6.8% of employees in the field thinking they will be with their employer in seven years time.
