Dubai’s Road and Transport Authority (RTA) expects to have Nol and credit card machines in all Dubai taxis by the end of this year.
The transport authority said that 80 percent of the entire fleet of taxis has been equipped with the new technology, which allows customers to pay for their fare by credit card or Nol card (the public transport card).
“Currently 80 percent of the taxi fleet in Dubai are equipped with the Nol/credit card machines and the rest of the fleet will be equipped by the year-end,” CEO of RTA’s Public Transport Agency, Dr Yousif Al Ali told Gulf News.
“As per the project plan, the installations started in January 2015 and the system goes live once they are installed in each taxi, so passengers have the option of paying their bills by cash, Nol or credit card,” he added.
