Two Abu Dhabi Media Company TV correspondents sustained minor injuries when their positions were targeted in Aden on Tuesday, it has been announced.
In a statement cited by news agency WAM, the company said correspondent Saleh Ali and photo journalist Yasser Adnan sustained injuries, and were now in a stable condition.
Both of them were part of the Arab coalition media coverage team, and have safely arrived home to receive more medical care.
Mohammed Al Mahmoud, chairman and managing director of the Abu Dhabi Media Company, said the company is keen to ensure the safety of its staff, who are close to the battlefields in Yemen.
“We are determined to maintain a professional line and exercise responsibilities towards the nation and society by conveying the truth and coverage of the achievements of the Arab coalition forces in Yemen,” he said.
“We will continue to cover the role of the UAE armed forces within the Arab coalition forces, led by Saudi Arabia, to restore legitimacy to Yemen.”
ISIL in Yemen on Tuesday claimed coordinated suicide bombings targeting the Yemeni government and the Arab military coalition in the southern city of Aden that killed 15 Arab and Yemeni troops.
The bombings were ISIL’s first known attacks on the Yemeni administration, which had made the al-Qasr hotel in the northwest of the port city its headquarters since it returned to Yemen last month.
At two Gulf Arab military facilities that were also bombed, at least four Emirati soldiers were killed, according to the UAE state news agency WAM. A Yemeni official said 11 Yemeni troops had died in the attacks.
